SPECIAL TIPS for the Change of Season

Special Tips for the Change of Season is a quick list of items to check off in preparation from summer to fall/winter. Use these tips and add the extra seasonal checklist to customize and optimize your chores. Don’t be caught off guard with an emergency that could have been prevented. Likewise, be prepared for the emergency that DOES happen.

Special Seasonal Deals following the List of Special Tips

The List

Exchange Air Filters

Clean or replace air filters based on the type of furnace in your home – The standard recommendation is to change them every two months.  Ideally, once a month would be a great habit but the time flies so quickly, its easier to manage every other month, or even quarterly.

Replace Batteries in Smoke Alarms

Did you know smoke alarms themselves expire?  I did not know this until I had a fire one day.  Fortunately, I spotted the fire (contained) and was able to remain on the phone with 911 until the fire department arrived.  Of the four smoke alarms in my home, only one went off AFTER the fire trucks had arrived!

Pantry Staples

Prepare your pantry to cover your family meals when weather doesn’t permit traveling to the store.  Have the staples on hand, your dried and canned favorites.  Plus, fill your freezer with groceries you know you will use throughout the cold months.

Schedule Home Maintenance

For those of you who spent the summer gathering logs and chopping cords of firewood for winter, don’t forget your chimney sweep inspection.  While you are at it, survey your gutters for any clogs or problems and door and window seals.

Interior Updates

Fall is the ideal change of season for doing those home projects where its chill enough outside you want to stay in but not so cold you can’t open windows or doors in the house for a nice flowing breeze.  In other words, this is a great time of year to PAINT YOUR WALLS.  Freshen it up, update the color, add a wallpaper.  These are inexpensive ways to give your home a fresh new look you will enjoy all winter long.  Mattresses, bedding.  Furniture…dining table and chairs for the holidays?

Yard Preparation

Two things that seem to always catch us off guard, or did until I finally learned my lesson, are getting on the schedule for the sprinkler blow-outs/backflow inspection and the pest control.  There is nothing worse than laying in bed and watching a spider crawl across the ceiling when you know you can’t reach it.  And BRING THE HOUSE DOWN to ever use a broom and have that piercing eyed, two-fanged, hungry-looking-at-me-spider fall on my bed!  It’s either going to eat me alive or it will be the dreaded spider I statistically swallow this year!

Winter Equipment

Check condition of any winter equipment – Do you need a tune-up on your snow blower?  Is your inventory of rock salt or kitty litter full for icy spots?

Change of Season: Hot Days of Summer to Cool Nights of Fall

The change of season typically refers to the gradual but inevitable changes that occur in our weather patterns and climate.  However, along with the weather, so does everything else.  Our wardrobe, our activities, and our food choices.  As the list continues.

The Fast Calendar

My last post was just before Mother’s Day.  I fully intended to update before Father’s Day.  Then time slipped by and it was Fourth of July.  Now, I feel the pressure to share this with you before Labor Day weekend.  Partially because my kids go back to school mid-August this year, a little earlier than usual.  So, here it is the end of July and I am freaking out about school supplies and school clothes.

Deal Tracking

If you are like me, I have a list five pages long for the Summer Black Friday Sales.  Unfortunately, other summer expenses have come up (trips to the local pool, an extra snow cone or four depending on how many extra children happened to climb in my minivan).  So, I missed those deals.  Now, I am on the hunt for the next best Summer-to-Fall/Back-to-School Savings!  I haven’t seen the store ads up yet.  Which is exactly why it is important I share with you what is available ONLINE HERE.

Clothes! More Clothes! And Even More Clothes!

I admit it, I despise shopping for clothes.  It has never been my “jam”.  My best friend is the same.  We prefer domestic shopping – you know, kitchen gadgets, home décor, garden plants and ornaments.  But this is the time of year when I MUST shop for clothes.  Therefore, this is the exception to my hatred of wardrobe shopping.

Shopping for the Family

First off, priority shopping demands I outfit my two kids for school.  I start with pants that don’t sag and lack holes.  Then, shirts not stained or torn that contain nothing offensive or suggestive imagery or text.  Next, socks without toe air-slots and white bottoms and fresh, clean underwear.  Because you never know when you will be in an accident and you want to have clean shorts!  Wink! Wink!

Shopping for Myself

Secondly, once that shopping has been done, I shop for myself AND for the upcoming holidays!  Summer clearance sales are ideal!  Most of the time, I have accurately guessed my children’s growth and have bought ahead for the next summer.  (Just like I buy their winter coats at deep discounts in February-April…winter clearance and tax return season).

Cold Weather Wear and OuterWear

Finally, you will need long sleeves and sweaters and hooded jackets before you know it!  Get a jump on it now and you will be relieved you did.

From Summer Play to Fall Activities

The change of seasons is greatly impacted with our activity choices.  Summer camping on bright starry nights fade out to only the die-hard campers not afraid of a drop of night temps.  Usually, those are the hunters who are hoping for fill their game tags.  Ultimately, filling their freezers and providing healthy meals to their families.

Outdoor Swimming pools lock up for the season with kids in school because it’s not feasible to open to the smaller off-season crowds.  Instead, the parks are the key location for optimist football, soccer, baseball and such.  Not just the parks for community activities but collegiate and professional football start.  People act in a frenzy to wear their team’s colors, acquire tickets to a game, and even tailgate.

Change of Season Calls for Career Change

This is real!  There have been surveys and studies to identify fluctuations in employment and when people choose to change jobs; including a change of career.  The first of the year – January and February – are obvious top months for this.  People are ready for big changes from the dreary winter weather and have their New Years Resolutions on High Motivation.

But the next time of year is Autumn.  September and October are in a sense, safe career changing months.  See, by then, you have had an opportunity to build vacation time AND use some, or all, of it for family trips over the summer.

Are you asking, “How does that make it safe to quit my job?”

This is when all the stores and warehouses start their holiday hiring.  It’s a great world for temporary positions.  It gets you out of where you are unhappy. Plus, temporary employment provides a source of income (regardless of reduced income, its still an income flow) and gives you a chance to try something different.  Additionally, you can change your schedule a bit and set time aside to look for what you really desire to do.

Or take a leap of faith and build your own business from home.  Without losing your life savings or investments, learn a new trade with opportunities to create multiple streams of residual income!  Let me show you how!

Spring Gardens Nourish Us to Fall Harvest, Comfort Foods and Tailgating

Food

Fondly, I am recalling the freshest spring greens when the peas first popped up and my lettuces and spinach started filling my bowls. I am ever so grateful for the bounty of a wonderful garden.  Although, as much as I enjoy the greens, I have been craving a good, old-fashioned chicken-n-dumplin’ soup.  Trust me, I am NOT a chef.  However, I do enjoy cooking.  If it works, we all love it and I hope I remember how I did it.  When it doesn’t work, we share it with the dogs!  In this case, Homemade Chicken Noodle Dumpling Soup was a creation that worked. Recently, it has been on my mind.  Try it out yourself and see what you think.

Tailgating

Equally, I am craving all the fun and wonders of tailgating.  Over the years, we sit down with the schedule of Boise State games (BSU College Football – Go Broncos!) and design a meal schedule to go along with the games.  There is a theme for each game.  We prepare for a crowd and set it up buffet style.  It has been a blast for years.  Almost earning itself status of tradition.  I intend to add these themes as I can to share them with all of you.  Our favorites to date are the Breakfast Bar, Baked Potato Bar and Chili Feed.

Seasonal Mood Swings

Seasonal mood swings impact people year round. Especially, between winter and spring. Here are ideas to redirect those mood swings. Imagine and experience along with me.

Seasonal mood swings are exactly what I am experiencing today.  Watching the blustering winds bend the biggest tree branches like a contortionist.  I am inside warmed by the fireplace skimming amazing deals on the newest fashions of swimsuits.

Spring giving us hints of hope with the first tulips blooming. Red robins appearing on the budding branches of my trees. Sensational Summer Fun Awaits in the Distance.

I know it’s only April, Easter isn’t even here yet.  But since January 1st, I have been working on slimming and trimming.  It’s a several month process of recovering from the holiday battle of the bulge to debut this ravishing mom beach bod!  Of course, I am not shy about this.  I have a pool in my backyard and bring in a little bit a fresh sand each year and Baby, I am at the BEACH!  C’mon Ladies – you know you can relate!

Sharing is Caring During Seasonal Mood Swings

I realize it would be unfair of me to not share with you these great resources I use to keep my seasonal mood swings at bay.  So, I have them listed here for your reference.  Of course, when you navigate your way through the many pages of my website, you will find plenty more gems too.  Enjoy!  And make sure you sign up for the updates!

Transition through seasonal mood swings with Fantastic shopping deals

Warm and Cozy Conveniences

Not being out of the woods yet for cold days, take a look at some of the fireplace accessories available.  With the cold season nearing the end, watch for clearance sales.  Update the set you have had for the last fifteen years.  You know the bristles on the sweeper brush are nearly gone.

By the way, while you are shopping for these clearance items, check out some of the outdoor fire pits and patio lamps.  Envision sprucing up your backyard to convert it to an outdoor living space.  A place to entertain family and friends.  Imagine it being your own personal retreat that transports you into a whole new surrounding.

Swimsuit Trends

Shopping for swimsuits is one trip I dread.  Until now!  Now, I have found this online resource for swimsuits that offer every kind of style for each body type.  The best part is the affordability of these suits.  Seriously, I have paid nearly a hundred bucks for a good suit.  These are great suits and hardly dent my pocket book!

Slimming the Body

swimsuit fitting goals

I dropped the 80’s exercise tights, leggings and wrist bands a long time ago.  Left the aerobic classes!  I found this incredible weight loss solution that does NOT, I repeat, DOES NOT REQUIRE EXERCISE.  Nor do I have to sacrifice the foods I enjoy or starve myself.  If you are interested in my weight loss secret, visit my Combat the Holiday Pounds page.  You can thank me later!

The Seasonal Mood Swings are REAL!

Time Spent in a Day

I have enjoyed those snow days and the time I have spent reading some of the greatest books available.  At my bedside, I have a short pile of books to read still.  One I have read multiple times.  Another I have picked up and read a chapter here and a chapter there.  Plus, two more I haven’t cracked open yet.

However, that anxious itch is coming.  Longing for warmer days.  Longer days.  I am crazy ready to dig in the dirt and plant something.  I could do without the worms and other creepy crawly critters but there is nothing like the season for planting.  No more frozen ground. The rain-pelted mud dried.  It’s the smell of a fresh spring day and fresh dirt!  Planting the garden, cleaning up the yard, preparing for summer barbecues!  Yet, its still to early.  Hence, I am experiencing seasonal mood swings.

These Shopping Deals Put Me in Good Mood

Reading Enthusiasts

Since I was a young girl, I love to read and get lost in a good story.  My grandma always read books, Harlequin books.  Then, my mom is a big fan of reading.  She read the Harlequins but eventually graduated to Danielle Steele and others along those lines.  Myself, I rebelled the romance novels and have a hankering for the mysteries.  Whatever your genre preference, you will find a plethora of reading material here.

Organic Gardening

Check this system out.  Centuries old techniques with modern day technology.  Combined, you have your own Farmer’s Market.  Now, this is what I call planting a garden.

Battling Seasonal Mood Swings; This is My Best Ever Use of Time

My most favorite way of spending my time is working.  Yes, it’s true!  I love my job.  I am ecstatic, overjoyed and elated to have the opportunities I do working from home creating MULTIPLE streams of income.  Never in a million years did I ever think I would find myself working an online job from home.  I felt destined to have an 8-5 job in an office somewhere for my whole life.  When I stumbled onto Performance Blogging, I hit the jackpot!  It helps keep the seasonal mood swings at bay.  Plus, I have the flexibility to do this year-round, based on my time schedule, reporting only to myself!

Full Disclosure

As for full disclosure, here it is.  I mentioned the pool in my backyard.  My pool is quite small.  It is, in fact, a kiddie pool.  However, I LOVE pulling my lawn chair up to the edge and dropping my feet into this wonderfully cold hose-water filled circular basket of love on a hot day!

seasonal mood swings
I began “kiddie-pooling” at a young age! Like these young girls, pampering my feet!

By the way, I place it in the front yard, near my front door too.  Sound odd?  Wondering why I don’t put it in my backyard?  What about my privacy?  To heck with that!  I have my priorities in order!  I want to be there and waiting for the delivery truck when my fine wines shipment comes in every month.  The driver loves it too – he doesn’t have to come all the way to the front door. Sit back with some fine wine and healthy snacks! Listen to some groovy summer music — let’s make it a great day!

Your Best Life in the 2019 New Year

A look at popular resolutions with strategies to achieve your goals. Your best life incorporates it all.

Let’s Kick Off the New Year with a Bang!

I am talking about New Year Resolutions.  Goals to change your life and make it YOUR best life.  Achieve YOUR goals!  Not fix the goals you didn’t meet last year.  Forget repeating the same goals year after year – or at least with the same approach.  There are REAL SOLUTIONS out there just waiting for you to discover them.  And now, you have found them!

your best life

# 1 on the List – Weight Loss; Improve Your Health

Naturally, this would be at the top, right?  Yes, it is the same one from last year.  However, we have a new approach that is proven, safe and effective.  Get results without killing yourself at the gym.  Of course, eating healthy and regular exercise are common sense and go along with a proper diet.  I will always encourage those practices for healthier living.  But, without making those practices a dreaded chore, you will still lose weight using this solution long after others have given up.  I have more information about this under Health & Fitness.  Check out the Combat Holiday Pounds article!

# 2 on the List – Save More Money

Hey, if you are like most Americans, you just added a thousand or more dollars to your debt. The average added debt for the holiday season is approximately $1,020.00.  However, you put this into perspective and this debt does not include holiday extras.

Imagine your debt total when you calculate the extra groceries to make holiday treats, entertain family and friends, or attend special holiday events.  Consider the updates to your Christmas décor, added outdoor lights, replacing light strings.  Christmas cards and postage.

And if you are a real tree family, the cost of a Christmas tree is nothing to joke about anymore.  Our tree alone is equivalent to approximately 23 gallons of milk.  That’s about two months-worth of milk for my family of four.  Just under 3 gallons a week.  Check out my money saving tips to help you get started this year.

# 3 on the List – Learn Something New

Life needs new challenges to keep us engaged.  What is the best way to keep things challenging?  Learn something new!  Pick up a new hobby.  Learn something you have always wanted to know how to do even if nobody thinks you should!  Want to learn how to fly?  Then, fly!  Ever wish you could knit or quilt like your grandmother?  Go for it, knit and quilt!  Are tired of your job? Yet, don’t feel you have skills to jump ship and do anything else in today’s job market?  No problem!

I can’t teach you how to fly, knit or quilt.  BUT…I can teach you a new skill set.  One that you can take anywhere when you are ready to learn. I will show you how to build your own business and make residual income to support a lavish retirement.  And you will gain support and encouragement you have never experienced in any other job environment.  And the learning doesn’t stop.  Let me share the world of Performance Blogging with You!

# 4 on the List – Become a Volunteer

The world is a better place when we all give of ourselves to help those who are in need.  This is true of any culture, any person or animal.  I had been taught a version of this growing up.  When a neighbor needed a cup of flour; we shared our flour.  Then, I needed clothes for school, my fifth-grade year.  My mom’s friend gave us her daughter’s outgrown clothes.  Innocently, I was enamored by this older girl – I wanted to be just like her.  Therefore, when I was gifted her hand-me-downs, I was thrilled!

Paying It Forward

Then in the year 2000, the movie “Pay It Forward” came out.  Starring Haley Joel Osment and Helen Hunt.  The original assignment in the movie is to come up with an idea to change the world.  In this instance, a young boy creates a pay it forward system around doing good deeds for others.  The movie is heart-warming and heart-wrenching at the same time.  The message though is loud and clear.

The beauty of performance blogging is the way our program works is entirely based upon the idea of paying it forward.  The intentions of all our instructors, including myself, is to see our students succeed.  As our guru shares with us regularly, it isn’t worth being rich (in any way) until you are able to share your success in the success of others.  Come join me and we will pay it forward together.

# 5 on the List – Be Good to Myself

Our lives get so busy.  Time flies and the days go by more quickly than they did last month.  We talk about our memories as young grade school kids feeling as if the holidays would never get here.  Our anticipation for Christmas presents and school break was at an all time high by Thanksgiving.  The world seemingly stopping for the following weeks until Santa arrived.  Now, I feel behind schedule when I haven’t begun next year’s shopping with this year’s after-Christmas clearance sales.

My point is in all this bustle of time flying, we don’t set aside time for ourselves.  And when we do, we are quick to dismiss that scheduled time.  Either replacing it all together with another obligation, typically regarding another person, or postponing it.  Eventually, we postpone ourselves so many times, we finally quit trying.  Ultimately, erasing our entire schedule of time we had set aside for ourselves.

Again, I offer you a solution.  Follow me as together we relax with one of my most favorite things to do.  Coloring and wine.

HERE IT ALL IS!

YOURS FOR THE TAKING IN 2019!

Before you go any further, one more note of importance!  It’s about your approach to accomplishing your NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS!  As I mentioned above, we want to enjoy success.  Let’ avoid failure and not exhaust ourselves with the same approach from previous years.  I strongly urge you to read my articles Know Your WHY, Find Success and Mind Over Matter, which was originally written as part of another series.  However, I go back to my own words regularly, reminding myself what I need.  I hope it will provide you with a perspective that makes you think twice about your approach for this year’s goals.  GOOD LUCK AND BEST WISHES!

The wish from my family to yours…Have a Happy New Year!

Let this be YOUR BEST LIFE and BEST YEAR EVER!

HOLIDAYS ARE HERE

This is how I start the usual family letter that circulates with a Christmas card each year.  The one and only time I catch up with family and friends the old-fashioned way…in writing.  When and some years, IF, I get around to it.  I know not everyone is a fan of the great annual holiday letter.  I hear they are so “impersonal” and just a way to “spout all your business”.  However, I find them refreshing.  Especially as I get older, they serve as a reminder of what I know from everyone when I receive them.  And a document for what my family has done this past year.  I tell you, the days are starting to blend.  Therefore, this letter is a good thing.

Happy Holidays!

From January until Present

In a nutshell, the kids went to school.  I stayed home and worked.  This is my second year working from home and it just gets better and better.  I am now training others who, like me, needed a solution to provide income for my family and allow me the flexibility of working my own schedule from home.  The program I work with has a very strong and encouraging PAY IT FORWARD mindset, which I absolutely LOVE!  You can contact me at tljabski@gmail.com if you want to know more about it.

The summer kicked off with kids everywhere, in and out the doors, all summer long.  I had some great times at wine events and had great outings with family and friends.  We enjoyed barbecue, music, and games of all sorts.  Before we knew it, school supplies were  advertised and we had days to get our stuff together for that first day of school.  What happened to that first day of school?  I can’t believe it!  I just dropped the kids off at school for their first day of the 2018/2019 school year.  Now, school pictures and parent teacher conferences are behind us.

FLORAL ARRANGEMENTS

Don’t leave out the floral arrangements from your holidays!  Florists these days use all sorts of materials to create amazing arrangements.  In addition to flowers, they use candles, fruit, vegetables, jars, stones and more.  Order for your own table to make it festive or to give to the hostess of your next holiday party.  A beautiful arrangement is eye-catching anywhere you have it.  I recently attended a silver wedding anniversary party.  The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was the stunning floral arrangement.  Beautiful rose arrangement with silver ribbons.

Pictures always show the whole turkey bird in the middle of the table before carving.  In our family, the turkey never makes it in whole form to the table.  It is carved and on a serving plate in a buffet line or set on the table, leaving the center of the table an ideal location for a gorgeous arrangement.

First, let’s get the kids up from bed, ready for school and out the door.  Okay, done.  Now, sit down and take some time to drink this fabulous new coffee I have for you!  Honey, just sit down and drink it.  Let it do the work out for you.  It has proven results for weight loss.  No extra effort on your part.  All you do is swap it out with your coffee and have one or two cups a day.  Lose weight and gain extra energy and mental focus.  The rest of your day you will feel great accomplishing your to do list.  This makes it ten times more satisfying at the end of the day when it’s wine o’clock!

The Early Years Option for Back to School Fall Season

Before we get rolling on the days of Back to School Fall Season, let’s take a minute to consider what the young kiddos in our lives need too.  All the extra fun of big siblings at home is gone and routines are more consistent.  Now is the best time to introduce them to early learning skills and the ABC Mouse program covers every aspect of that early learning in a fun manner any child will love.  The interactive lessons keep them engaged.  Steal of a Deal Savings are being offered right now with up to 49% off your subscription.

The Supply List

Going as far back as I can remember, I always loved the smell and touch of the new school supplies.  Tracking down the supply list for my grade that year.  The anticipation of what I would get to do with those new materials.  I remember how exciting it is graduating from the box of eight colors in the crayon box to 16 or 24 colors.  It’s empowering leveling up from safety scissors to pointed craft scissors.  Then, being old enough to need binders and college ruled subject notebooks with pocket folders.  By the fourth grade, I was confident I was well on my way to high school and college. Truly, getting supplies is the official sign and feeling of back to school fall season.

The Ads

The store ads in the mail, on the TV, across the internet; including on FREE TV.  Glue sticks 4 for $1, spiral bound notebooks for twenty-five cents.  Buy one, get one free.  Purchase this set of water colors and receive this notebook for only a nickel on this special back-to-school-bonanza-shopping day only!  With all these specials on basic office supplies, as a mom, I shop like a madwoman does on Black Friday!  In this case, I am the Madhatter and I stock up on school and office supplies!  I have enough pencils to send my kids off to school with until they hit college!

Supplies Not Just for School

Gather these office supplies at these low prices NOW for all your events.  If you hold annual meetings, now is the time to purchase notepads and pens for your attendees.  For small business owners or home-based offices, get your supplies while the stores are in price reduction wars.  By the way, this is the best time to shop for your anything computer, tablet related.  The market counts on college kids needing to have their own computers.  Anymore, kids in junior high and high school are needing them too!  Printers, shredders, inks, paper reams.  Find your best deals now!

Clothes Shopping

Trends and Bargains

Crazy days of school clothes shopping.  Finding the trendiest new fashions for the pre-teens and teenagers.  Grown out of hand-me-downs and no longer willing to wear just anything, our young folk have specific fashion needs from hair products to clothing to accessories and shoes.   Plus, with the change of the season you will want to shop for bargain and clearance items on the outgoing summer selections.  Hopefully, next summer the new digs will fit.

back to school fall season

Layering

But now is also the time of year to buy those layering articles of clothing.  It’s chilly in the morning and evenings and you need a bit of extra warmth but the days are still plenty warm.  Hoodies are the best for this but as the fall progresses and we get out to those late-night football games, we need sweaters.  Make sure you shop for a couple of sweaters!

Looking Ahead to Winter

Speaking of sweaters, don’t forget to keep your eye out for the way too early Christmas ugly sweater on the market.  Trust me, the holiday items are starting to appear!  You may as well find one and grab the deal or get it shipped to you before the holiday shipping frenzy and all your packages are late.

Watch for last year’s winter coats to be mixed with new ones this year.  Look for socks, thermal underwear, winter boots, ski coats, and more.  These are showing up as available but when that first snap of real cold hits they disappear like melted ice cream on a triple digit day in the summer.

Sports Collectibles

back to school fall season

Football season is upon us.  Fantasy football is thriving.  The NFL…no comment.  It depends on your team, right?  When your team is on top, then you rule the roost.  When your team is falling behind its because some referee somewhere had a vendetta and there were questionable calls against your team.  I know, I sit on my couch and it happens to my team too.  Regardless, stand with team pride!  Or sit on the couch.  Find team collectibles and your favorite sports jerseys and more here.  GO TEAM!

Fall Comfort Food and Fine Wine

back to school fall season

How can we not think of comfort food and wine in the Fall?  It’s all part of the changing leaves.  The comfort foods tend to be a heavier meal; therefore, pairing with more bold wines, often found in red wines such as a Merlot or Malbec.  There are very nice fine wine blends too coming from our Direct Cellars wine club.  These wines are delivered to your door and come with note cards showing suggested meal pairings.  Order your wines today.  Try a new recipe or pairing.

Set Your Clock Back

back to school fall season

Another event that happens with back to school fall season is the changing of the clock.  This is known officially as Daylight Saving Time.  The idea is to maximize daylight hours.  While Benjamin Franklin was a proponent of this, he was not where the idea originated.  Years ago, Germany was the first country to enact this change of time. In 1966, the United States passed an act to establish consistency in time.  This act was called the Uniform Time Act.  It starts the last Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October.  Although the act said states had the option of remaining on standard time year-round, which is exactly what Hawaii and Arizona have done.  Too bad we can’t set the clock back on aging!  Or can we?  There are wonderful beauty products and artisan products available to help now.

Holidays

Halloween

Does it sound too early to discuss Halloween?  It’s not!  Believe me.  With just weeks away, you need to shop for your costumes NOW.  The sales are happening!  Don’t wait another minute.   Costumes range from historical figures to famous couples, emergency and authority figures to TV characters.  Go traditional princess gowns and vampire cloaks to famous superheroes.  All the added accessories you need are available too.  Don’t forget the decorations! Indoor party décor and spooky outdoor lighting, fog and more!

Paranormal – Coming Soon!

Have you ever heard of orbs? Small circular spots that randomly and unexplainably appear in photographs and on surveillance recordings?  There is debate as to what these bubbles of light are all about.  I intend to do research and share with my readers the ongoing thoughts on both sides and the information to support both sides.  Then I plan to share my experiences.  Before you make up your mind about orbs – wait until you hear this!

Thanksgiving & Christmas & Hanukkah

The stores around town are stocking shelves.  Certainly, the products are available right now, but we can revisit this in a few weeks.

However, for those of you with loved ones serving our country overseas, get your holiday shopping and shipping squared away.

Please thank these mighty brave soldiers on my behalf!

SUMMERTIME…Livin’ Easy

SUMMERTIME…Livin’ Easy.   The best way to spend your summer.  So many activities to enjoy.  Nice weather.  People buzzing around outdoors.  Plants full of foliage and blooms.  Long days.  Peaceful sunrises and beautiful sunsets.  The periodic thunder and lightning storm.  Music in the parks and outdoor concerts.  I love the summer life.  Livin’ easy.  Reminds me of a song.  Summertime…and the livin’ is easy…

Fish Are Jumpin’…

Image result for summer images fishing

Explore fishing!  Summertime is the best time of the year to get out of the house, hit the road and find a spot to go fishing.  No experience necessary to have fun fishing at any age.  The joy of it comes regardless of your level of experience too. Start your learning adventures today here.

Already have the hang of fishing down?  Are you an avid and accomplished fisherman?  Just for you, there is a special advanced offer.  You won’t want to miss out on some of the most coveted secrets of successful fisherman.  Sure, you have secrets to success too.  However, secrets are revealed here that might change the way, or where, or when…you fish!

Fish for Dinner

Understand the differences between grilling and barbecuing your fish.  Plan your side dishes around your protein.  This takes a little bit of effort.  For example, serve salmon with a warm roasted burst cherry tomato and asparagus salad but not with a Bolognese spaghetti.  Try a new recipe.  Three favorite summertime salad recipes I enjoy are a Strawberry Mandarin Orange SaladShrimp Zucchini Salad and a Romaine Avocado Salad.  The Shrimp Zucchini would work very well as a butter leaf lettuce wrap too.  Finally, pairing your fish dinner with a great fine wine.

And the Cotton is High…

Cotton is the breathable fabric and is ideal for summertime heat.  It is the primary fabric used for producing the ever-popular t-shirt.  Rightly so, it has this incredibly soft to the touch feel, not slippery like satin or silk.  Nor is cotton as insulating as wool.  Of course, there is the combed-up cotton we know as flannel.  It works for cold nights in the mountains when you are camping.  But flannel isn’t much of a summertime demand.

summertime livin easy

The rest of summertime, people tend to wear durable, easy to care for cotton.  T-shirts, sundresses, tank tops, airy blouses, casual shorts – you name it!  Concert t-shirts or Souvenir t-shirts are the best.  Make a statement about yourself wearing a t-shirt from a concert by your favorite band.  Be a conversation starter wearing a t-shirt you picked up on your last vacation.

You need to complete your summertime outfit with cotton handbags and cotton sandals or flips flops too.  Plus, be ready all times with a swimsuit on hand for a spontaneous dip in the water or water fountain.  Sprinklers work well, and nothing beats good old-fashioned hose spraying.

Begin shopping now

for all your summertime clothing needs!

Oh, Your Daddy’s Rich…

From a child’s perspective, there is something mesmerizing and mysterious about a Dad’s wallet.  Compare his wallet to mom’s purse.  The wallet is small, fits in a pocket, holds real dollar bills – lots of them, big ones too!  Mom’s purse is a large bag with facial tissue, a brush or comb, and lipstick; usually also holds fruit snacks, band-aids, coupons, pens and paper.  She has a bunch of credit cards to the mall stores, a couple single dollar bills, and the separate special coin purse bulging with pennies.

The view from Dad’s perspective is bleak rather than mesmerizing.  Mom’s perspective too.  They know it takes hard work to become rich.  But what if you can take the hard out of hard work and the work out of hard work and become rich by practicing fun play?

What do I mean by fun play?  I mean creating your own schedule, developing your own business you can do anywhere, anytime.  Spending time with your friends, meeting new friends and creating family-like bonds with others whom share your same passion and desire to be rich.  Rich in more ways than money can ever fill.  And rich to fill your wallet making it bulge.  It makes me chuckle to imagine the bulging eyes of a child looking at Dad’s bulging wallet of dollar bills.

EXPLORE YOUR SUCCESS POTENTIAL WITH FUN PLAY!

Other Summer Offers:

HEALTHY SNACKS – With the kids home for the summer, I struggle to keep enough snacks around.  I fill the snack drawer and before the week is gone, the drawer is empty.  Fortunately, now I can hop online and order a monthly snack delivery online.  You can too!  You pick which snack pack works best for your family.  Start with a smaller package during the school year, then upgrade to a larger package for the summer while they are home.

FLOWERS YEAR ROUND – Mother’s Day, Memorial Day and Father’s Day have all passed.  But flowers are not just for holidays.  I ordered an arrangement recently.  It was gorgeous and far surpassed my expectations.  The basket arrangement was twice the size I expected.  The flowers were lively and full.  It lasted several days before showing any signs of withering.  I loved it so much.  It made me think, hmmm, I should have fresh flowers regularly in the house.  The flowers just brightened everything up, including my spirits.  Did you know you can sign up for monthly deliveries?  Yep.  3-month, 6-month and 12-month.  What an excellent idea that is for a gift for that someone special!  I also love the chart describing the meaning of different flowers.  I like to make sure I am sending the right message with the right flower.

NEW ADVANCEMENTS STORMING TECHNOLOGY

spring timeThe tech world is an E10 tornado of ideas coming to life!  I know, E5 is supposed to be the top for tornado ratings.  But technology is happening so fast around us it is easily comparable to a massive storm.  Realistically, I was a kid totally impressed by the Polaroid camera and watching the photo come out of the camera and develop right in front of my own eyes.  Now, people have cameras in the frames of their eyeglasses.

Technology is going to evolve continually.  Specifically, go back to the first computers.  Built in the early to mid-1940’s, the unit was huge and weighed close to 50 tons.  Around early 1980’s, the personal computer was introduced.  A person would buy the kit to run one at home.  The processor, the hard drive, the screen, the keyboard, and so on.  DOS programming.  Ugh!  Then along came windows operating system.  Basically, take DOS and make it graphical information.  VERY user friendly. You get the idea.  Now, half of the technology we saw introduced a decade ago is on its way out.

Introducing…

Let it be no surprise then to make this introduction.  Introducing BLOCKCHAIN.  A decentralized data tracking system.  The birthplace for cryptocurrencies such as BITCOIN.  The expedient virtual pay system for merchants – for example, VYAPAY.  And looking to turn heads with deals for travel with programs for instance, like Xcel Trip.  Don’t be the last one to know about how your world is changing!  Find out now.

2018: A Year for Positive Momentum

RESOLUTIONS! GOALS! PLANS!  It’s all part of 2018:  A Year for Positive Momentum.  Everyone has thought about them, talked about them and some have even written them down.

Each New Year we all set forth a new list of goals to achieve.  Whether we want to call it our New Year’s Resolutions, our Success Plan or our Goal List, these are ways we wish to improve our lives in some manner.  I find these to be a bit humorous and have enjoyed the posts on social media for those who have committed to these plans.  I have seen posts from those who have already faltered and some from those who gave up within 48 hours.

Image result for new years resolutions

I giggle along with those who are following  the same plans as the year before and the year before that and well…the year before that too.  The results each year have been about the same, therefore, starting the same list each year.  Think of the movie, “Groundhog’s Day”.  For now, 2018 is scheduled to be a year for positive momentum.

Positive Mindset

Image result

Forward Momentum

Then there are the folks motivated to make a real change.  2018 bring it on!  Total year for positive momentum!  These are the ones that signed up for the gym membership and actually go to the gym, know where the locker rooms are and how to use the equipment.  They typically go strong and forward on achieving their resolutions.  That is until about half way through the spring and somehow the season changing, maybe Daylight Savings, just turns everything upside down.  Sure, they have accomplished a good dent in their intentional efforts but ultimately they do not complete their goals as they had planned according to their intentions at the first of the new year.

Image result

Finally, yes, the people who do cross the finish line.  These are the “gym family” that know proper gym etiquette, get together for a day of boating and water skiing.  The achievers are the folks that might have struggled along the way, perhaps had to take a time out but then jumped back in the game.  Perseverance, faith, determination and belief helped them all along the way.

Best Handmade Soap – Body Care Products

Best Handmade Soap – Body Care Products! If love to shop American made products…Then we have located the best! Artisan Soap and Soap Products are the best ever.  If you have never heard of SoapCreek get ready to be addicted…..  Personally, I have never been a fan of this kind of product. I have to say I was Pleasantly surprised. I will be using and gifting these for years to come.

Best Handmade Soap – Body Care

Me for one use to think natural products were boring and smelly. SoapCreeks natural soaps and body care like no other. Our Artisan Soaps are a pleasing work of art and also offer amazing skin-nourishing benefits. We use sustainable cultivated food-grade plant oils and scent every product with only pure therapeutic grade essential oils sourced from farms all over the world. Meanwhile offering soothing and cleansing properties.

Each bar has generous amounts of additives sourced both locally and worldwide through fair-trade, such as exotic butters, oils, herbs, seeds, flowers, extracts, raw honey, goats milk, yogurt, etc. that may help many different skin types. Many varieties are totally vegan. We believe in listing out each ingredient, even the essential oil blend, realizing that transparency is everything to the consumer.

Best Handmade Soap – Body Care

Soap Creek has made it their duty to use only the finest ingredients in our products. They pride themselves on keeping their products free of synthetic fragrances, dyes and other harsh chemicals to ensure a more natural approach to body care. Made only with essential oils, natural clay, minerals, butters, and herbs. Meanwhile, SoapCreek is very Eco-Friendly. Our earth is precious and they make every effort to reserve and replenish the life-giving resources it offers. One way is by using minimal packaging from renewable sources.

ARTISAN SOAP IS REAL SOAP

Artisan soap is all natural. In fact, It contains NO fillers, preservatives or synthetics. Ultimately, the recipes are a careful balanced of oils and fats that interact with the liquid and lye necessary for soap-making. Meanwhile, Artisan soaps naturally moisturize, cleanse, and lather without the help of harmful synthetics.

Commercial “soaps” Not so much! The fact is they don’t even call them soap but washes.  In fact, this is the stuff that is in your dishwasher and washing machine Detergents. I don’t know about you? But I for one do not!

I don’t want to continue putting that on my body. Commercial soaps are made to ensure a long shelf life. Good for prepping for a nuclear fall out if you’re into that.

Their Mission: We are inspired by the magnificence of the sphere we live in. It is our untiring mission to deliver a little piece of the beauty we experience every day by creating an unequaled artisan product bursting with the vibrancy of nature. Because we are zealous about promoting good health and a green planet, our motive is to create the very finest natural body care products. Each batch of soap is meticulously mixed by hand then lovingly shaped into a unique artistic design. Our products are not only pleasing to the eye but are brimming over with completely natural essential nutrients and luscious moisturizing agents.

What Every Mom Needs…to Relax!

Let’s face it!  Moms need to relax!  People around us telling us all the time.  “You just need some time to relax.”  Your spouse, “Honey, relax.  Everything will turn out fine.”  Your independent dependents (the kids), “Mom! Chill out!”  Your own mother, “Make sure you take some time to relax after the kids go to sleep.”  And finally, your friends, “We should get together and go somewhere to relax.”

Like many of you other mothers out there, I start imagining what relaxation might look like.  Hmmm….

Girls Night Out

I love getting together with the girls.  When we all break away from our daily routines and demands from our bosses and families.  Put us all in a room with a couple bottles of wine and some snacks.  Then let the good times roll.  Immediately, the sharing and laughter begin.  With each sip of wine, the relaxation sets in a little more.  Girl talk at any age is girl talk.  The “wiser” we become with each year of added experiences just means we have that much more ground to cover.  What better way to reconnect with friends, reconnect with my own inner self and just relax than to share some wine with my besties!

moms everywhere

As much as I love getting together for a Girls Night Out, it doesn’t always work out for everyone to schedule.  More often than not, I am working or attending to the family and just don’t have the time to get away.

Date Night

One of my favorite escapes is getting out just the two of us.  Catching an evening outdoor Shakespeare play with a quaint little picnic and a glass or two of wine.  The mood is set to just kick back and relax!  Have you seen some of those really adorable picnic baskets with coolers, pockets for your wine, wine glasses and plate and utensil sets?  Some of them even have a blanket included. Oh, and yes, the corkscrew!  I even found one that includes the wine bottle stopper.

A Few Moments Alone
