And its good for your cardiovascular health. One of its ingredients is the Mangosteen, a fruit known to be the favorite of Queen Victoria. Plus, an Egyptian favorite, Aloe Vera. This immune system enhancer is low in sodium and sugars and high in potassium too.
Often, people think they will ride out their cold. It will go away once it runs its course. But what if you didn’t have that kind of luck. Here is a story that will make you stop and think twice how you treat your colds.
Like Clockwork
It was the beginning of Fall 2016 and the kids had returned to school. Guaranteed each year within the first three weeks of school, the whole family has come down with a cold and a cough. Stuffed up noses, runny noses, lungs and chest burning, neck muscle fatigue and the feeling you don’t want to get out of bed. It starts with one kid, then to the next until it comes to mom. When mom is down…the whole family is down!
Try as we do to cover our mouths when we cough and sneeze. Plus, to keep our hands washed regularly and frequently. Using over-the-counter remedies that taste awful. What’s worse is then these horrible tasting medicines need dosing every 4-6 hours, usually. By the time the cold hits everyone in the family, a fortune has been spent buying this stuff up. And the last place mom wants to go when she is down is anywhere! But feeling as crummy as she does, she will drag her frazzled hair, drippy red nose and watering eyes to the drug store for more bottles of the nasty tasting elixir.
It Was Our Turn
That’s what I did in Fall 2016. Eventually, our colds ran their course and my family returned to being healthy. However, my son has Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy so when he goes to school, he spends his days in the Special Learning Center (SLC) classroom. This breaks my heart to this day. But its been on my mind this season because of something that happened recently. I will get to that a little later.
The SLC classroom is filled with other children challenged with a variety of medical conditions. Each one of these kiddos is so special and unique. They light up when I visit the classroom and so do I. One child wants to hold hands, and another wants to spin. Once in awhile a child wants to reach out and touch my face. But there was one specific child that every time I visited the classroom, he would climb up my leg like a monkey until he reached my hip and I just held him. There is no better feeling of love then the genuine love of an innocent and pure child loving you! This kiddo’s name was Tristan.
The Virus Attacked the Weak
The viral illness, your ordinary cold, was making its way through all the families in the school. Unfortunately, this included the SLC, where these kids are highly susceptible with weakened immune systems. And Tristan caught the cold. But his immune system couldn’t fight it off. His parents kept him home from school in hopes he would recover at home. They took him to the doctor…and then the hospital. But Tristan didn’t make it. Your average everyday cold took Tristan’s life in a matter of a week. His shining light darkened; and the world lost a most precious young soul. To this day, I have his obituary on my refrigerator to remind me daily how fortunate we are to have our kids and our health. And because I miss him, my little monkey friend.
Another Year, Another Cold
Approximately two weeks ago, I wasn’t feeling well. My older son had stayed home from school ill. Then I received a call to come pick up my younger son, the one in SLC. Off I went heading to the school. We scheduled for a stop at the doctor on the way home to check his ears in case of a possible ear infection. Staying on top of these things for special needs kids that are non-verbal is a must. Thankfully, no ear infection.
While we were there, I tried doing my grocery order on my phone for pickup. Thinking I could just swing by quickly and take care of that errand too since I was already in the car. For whatever reason, the app was not working properly. I tried again this time setting it up for delivery. Still no go. Consequently, I ended up dragging myself and my child through the grocery store.
A Stranger Approaches
At the check-out counter, I was talking with the cashier when a lady approached my son and called him by his name. She talked with him, reached out her hand to him. Saying hello and talking with him, she commented how much he has grown and how neat it was to see him. She turned to me and I didn’t recognize her but clearly, she knows my son well. That happens. We go somewhere and a kid from his school or the parent of a kid from school will say “Hi” to Logan (my son).
She could see in my face I wasn’t aware of who she was and how she knew Logan. I introduced myself and she informed me her son had previously gone to the same school as mine and had been in the SLC classroom too. The kids come and go, families move in or move away and some kids age into the junior high program. Rarely do I ever meet or see the parents.
I Had to Know
Then I asked who is her child? She replied, her son’s name was Tristan. And in that moment, I knew. Instantly, I gasped my breath, my heart ached, and my eyes filled with tears. She saw my reaction and before I could say I remember him, she too had tears brimming. I told her how much I remember him and miss him, how his obituary is still on my refrigerator. Then she gulped for air and whispered out, “thank you, I didn’t know if anyone would remember him”. Of course, I don’t think I will ever forget him. I shared with her the stories of him climbing my leg and snuggling. Next, she confided she had finally cleared out his room putting things in the garage the previous week and did I know anyone that could use some of Tristan’s medical equipment. We finished visiting, parting with both of us streaming silent tears. She left giving Logan one last special hand squeeze. Me, I felt paralyzed and cried all the way home.
For a Reason
I am not a Bible thumper or a regular church attendee. However, I do believe in God. I prayed that day for Tristan’s mom, for my son and thanked the Lord for all the blessings he gives us. That day he was instrumental in getting me out of the house, to be with Logan at the right place at the right time to meet Tristan’s mom. I have no doubt she walked away feeling grateful to learn someone else does remember her son.
You Can Make a Difference
It just happens to be Thanksgiving 2018 today. You can bet on the fact I am saying prayers of gratitude for all the blessings in my life. Again, I am saying prayers for Tristan’s family. And I add prayers for all to remember their health is more important than just how it affects them personally. So please, be good to yourself. Give your immune system a boost because you could be saving someone else’s life!
Why share this story with you? Because I am sharing with you this product that will serve as an immunity system enhancer. Now, if everyone had been using this supplement, would Tristan have had a better chance at fighting off that cold? Perhaps. But it is something you can do now for yourself and your own family.
