Where Finding Bigfoot Went Wrong #6

Where Finding Bigfoot went wrong.  This is the missing link they missed.  It has potential for a return season and increased viewership.  The material is already in their filming.  It is my firm belief and opinion if the producers do this, there will be even more witnesses come forward.  Here is my take on where Finding Bigfoot went wrong.

A Finding Bigfoot Fan

It’s safe to say by now my readers have gathered I am a Bigfoot Believer.  This next declaration should come as no surprise.  Anything Bigfoot related, I love to watch!  Imagine my thrill to learn Animal Planet was launching a program called “Finding Bigfoot”.

I have spent the last few years rearranging my life so I could be present for each new episode of “Finding Bigfoot”.  Each episode of every season is set to record.  A new episode would play at 8:00pm with an encore showing at 11:00pm.  I watched both.  It is not unusual for me to spend a day doing a “Finding Bigfoot” marathon.  The seasons in re-run.  Specials.  There is not another show out there in which I have devoted this much dedication and time for viewing.

The Cast of Finding Bigfoot

.I love the cast of Finding Bigfoot.  Each of them has such a different personality and unique background.  Getting to know the cast is just as enjoyable as the show has been.

Matt exudes the most determination and enthusiastically shares his wealth of information about Bigfoot.  Cliff is that laid back logical educator musician I envision walking around home in socks and Birkenstocks.

Bobo is that guy everyone wants to be around because he is cool.  He looks good sporting Bigfoot hats and necklaces.  You know if “Squatch” (shortened from Sasquatch) is going to sit down for Bacon Breakfast with any of the cast its going to be Bobo.

Ranae is the skeptic who holds out for logic and science. Her own father’s stories influence her in this subject. In my opinion, her threshold of hope will outlast her skepticism.

What?  No more Finding Bigfoot?

Imagine my disappointment when the show was cancelled.  It wasn’t really announced.  If it was, I haven’t come across anything other than Matt Moneymaker comments on the BFRO (Bigfoot Field Research Organization) website.  I have spent a fair amount of time trying to dig something up on the internet.  Finally, I did find something claiming the viewing numbers were just too low to continue.

Here is where, in my opinion, “Finding Bigfoot” could have maintained its audience, possibly picking up more viewers.  Focus less on the camping and the howls and knocks and more on the witness stories and re-enactments.  Even if the episodes are two-part episodes for the different locations.  Or show two or three episodes of witness stories and reenactments from the location and build up the anticipation of a Bigfoot encounter on a camp-out.

The Gems in Finding Bigfoot

Having followed everything I hear about Bigfoot (which I am confident is only a sliver of material), I am most intrigued by the witness accounts.  There are accounts that do not convince me of their legitimacy.  Regardless of the witness or the demeanor of the witness. I pay attention to detailes of text accounts and the way the witness relays the experience. Comparatively, believable witnesses can make the way the hair staned on my neck and goosebumps rise to the occasion.  I WANT to hear how Bigfoot appeared outside someone’s window.  I CRAVE hearing how the animals become restless and a foul odor wafts in the air.  Not a creature to be seen yet the next day footprints are discovered.

Taking a Picture

The BEST are the non-believers, hunters especially, least expecting to see a Bigfoot. I think to myself, where was their camera?  Why didn’t you get a picture or shoot a Bigfoot?  (I don’t approve of shooting a Bigfoot unless for some reason a Bigfoot attacks and it is self-defense – not many of those witness reports)!  I know why…because you weren’t expecting to see a Bigfoot!  Most people aren’t expecting it.  Consider the people seeking Bigfoot out.  It’s not like they expect WHEN and WHERE they will see a Bigfoot.

Optimistic for Finding Bigfoot

There is hope.  Education is key for planning, estimating and calculating anticipation.  Ultimately, when we accurately predict sightings, we will prepare to take photos worthy of National Geographic recognition!  We could use sign language and ask Bigfoot to join us for a glass of wine!  Hey, don’t knock it.  Sign language has been a very effective communication method with other primates.  Get the old boy some fine wine, let him relax.  Set him up in a sweet outdoor natural rock bath with some aromatic artisan soaps.

All right, it isn’t going to be that simple to lure in a Bigfoot.  However, there are enough believers and seekers we will continue to learn more about them.  Someday, there will be enough evidence to end the debate of its existence and begin the debate of where it belongs in our chains of evolution, human or primate.

To Sustain My Habit Post Finding Bigfoot

In the meantime, I continue to look out for any new programming available on the topic of Bigfoot.  Diligently, I will hope for Animal Planet to revive “Finding Bigfoot”.  I dedicate my time focusing on hearing witness accounts, new and old.

My preference for the stories in their first telling or the hundredth time is just to hear them again.  My loyalty lies with the BFRO website as my main resource for new reports.  Beyond all else, my admiration of Dr. Grover Krantz (deceased) and Dr. Jeff Meldrum is unshakeable.  To all who wish to engage me in a conversation about Bigfoot with the intention of knocking some sense and logic into me, it won’t happen!  But I might just convert you into a believer!

That’s a Wrap!

Oh my, will you look at the time!  I have just enough time to fit in one of my favorite episodes!
