Just about anything 70’s really. Beyond the 70’s I feel like I should be banging my head. Although, I there are some really great songs from that decade too. But I tend to reserve the dancing for the 70’s blasts. I drink the red wine and my girlfriends drink the white wines.

My Most Favorite Special Wine Story

I had an opportunity to travel to Europe with a group from my University. I hadn’t traveled before and I was a non-traditional student. The semester before my senior year was supposed to be dedicated to an internship. However, I decided I had been employed in many places before where some graduates had never been employed coming out of school. I felt confident in my abilities to job search and interview as well. What I didn’t feel I had was another chance to go abroad. For that reason, I opted to travel.

I have many experiences and stories I will share another day on some other page. But this one was special. My mom decided to join me in Austria. Great stories and experiences there too. But then we traveled on to Italy where one of my aunts joined us. More wine, wine, wine and music, and charming Italian men making us blush with their flirting. Attention we were all unaccustomed to in our normal lives. After a few days, we left Italy.

The Jazz Festival

Arriving in Montreux, Switzerland, the mountains so beautiful and sky vivid blue. Lake Geneva was a massive body of calm beauty. The famous Montreux Jazz Festival was in full swing. Music and vendors everywhere. We walked along the walkway partaking of the music, food and craft scene. Then we stopped at one vendor booth for a glass of wine. The three of us sipped on our wine overlooking the water. It was incredible.

Butter or Wine?

Have you ever just wanted to pick up a bowl of melted butter and drink it? That was how this wine from this vendor tasted. Velvety smooth butter! We made a point to tell the person pouring the wine when we ordered our second glass. Next thing we knew, we had been invited to the winery. This winery has been family-owned since the 16th century. It is a private winery that does not ship their wines anywhere. Old grand-pa-pa didn’t speak much English but was thrilled by our visit. When we sang, “You are my Sunshine”, he beamed.

We sat around a small table with the family in a room reminiscent of a small cave. Ancient wine tools adorned the wall. It was such an extraordinary and unique experience. From there, we were given a private tour of the city. At no cost to us. This was an experience most people will never get to enjoy. For me, it is just one of many heart warming memories where a fine wine is so relevant to the story. My favorite story.
